V-Day Recap and Many Leather-bound Books

Happy Monday!

This weekend was a really nice one, filled with things to do for Valentine's Day and a mini home project that Joey and I tackled.  We didn't have any Valentine's Day plans at first, but when we both got home from work, we were starving and didn't want to cook.  Hubs suggested heading to Aubree's Pizza for dinner, since it just opened right down the street from us.  I had never been there before, so we tried it out and it was delicious.  We will definitely be going back, and that can be dangerous considering it's right down the street!

He also surprised me with a bouquet of beautiful lavender roses!  They are definitely a contender for my favorite flower now and they are making me crave springtime even more. We didn't realize it until we were eating dinner, but last year we did the exact same thing for Valentine's Day.  We ordered pizza in and watched the new Season 2 of House of Cards on Netflix.  Apparently, we like our V Day's laid back and casual.  We will probably be keeping this tradition up!  Unfortunately, Season 3 of HOC doesn't come out for another 11 days, but we were content with watching random shows on tv.

On Sunday we decided to put together the bookcase that his family got us for Christmas.  It's from Target, and we love it!  It was easy to put together with 2 people and only took us about an hour and fifteen minutes.  So excited to have it up, now I just have to fill it!  Isn't it a beaut?

Can't wait to get some cute bookends for this bad boy.  I may end up purchasing another one, too because I like it so much and I think I will need it for all of the books we have.

Have a great start to the week!

Finally Friday!

Hello Friends!

We made it to Friday...thank goodness.  This week has gone sloooooow.  Anyone else?  How was your week?  Here are some highlights of this week and things I am looking forward to this weekend:

1. I bought Express jeans for the first time last week, and unfortunately, after one wear, they aren't for me.  I am heading straight to the mall on Saturday to return or exchange them.  I finally decided to invest in some nice jeans and they did not work out well for me.  Ugh, oh well.  The search for great jeans continues.

2. While at the mall I need to go to the Macy's Clinique counter.  I'm at that point where all of my skincare products run out at once.  Why does that always happen??  I need to get some new foundation and a couple other things.  I may make a small run to Ulta, too ;)

3. I saw these beautiful flowers today after work and I thought they were so beautiful for Valentine's Day...the pastel colors are just gorgeous, especially the lavender ones.

4.  Joey and I are getting into the new show Backstrom with Rainn Wilson.  It started off slow but it's getting better every week.  Does anyone else watch?

5. The biggest thing I am looking forward to this weekend? Getting some good R & R.  We were swamped with things to do last weekend and it will be nice to have a pretty chill weekend.  Plus, it's going to be COLD.  Like, -8* cold.  I will definitely be staying snuggled up under a blanket pretty much all weekend.

Hope you all have a great Friday and Happy Weekend!

Um, where did October go?

Here we are, the last week of October already.  I really have no idea how that's possible and I continue to be dumbfounded about how quickly this whole year has gone.  I thought that October was going to be a pretty low key month, but it quickly filled up with birthdays, projects and Halloween parties.

Our weekend started out with a nice relaxing Friday night with Hubs and I taking it easy, ordering pizza for dinner and enjoying downtime after a hectic workweek.  The dogs appreciate this downtime as well, considering they get to hang out on the couch with us :)

(I really don't know how Miss Lulu was comfortable with this, but homegirl was passed out.)

Saturday turned into a much busier day then anticipated, but in a good way.  After breakfast, Joey had to do some lawn work so and I got a call from my Mom asking if I wanted to go to the mall.  I never turn down an invitation to the mall, obviously.  It was a really nice time!  We spent way too much money at the Clinique counter, per usual, and I put a good dent in my Christmas shopping.  I got all of our niece and nephew's gifts halfway done, and I got some great deals on stuff.  It feels good to get going on all of that so we're not scrambling in the next few weeks (WEEKS?!) before the huge shopping rush.

Later that evening we got all dressed up in our costumes and went to my best friends' annual Halloween party.  It was different this year because their newborn son, Vinny joined us this year in his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume!  Babies in costumes are just the cutest ever.

Sunday turned into a busy day as well.  My sister Ashley spent the night after the party and we made a big pancake spread for breakfast.  Then we all headed to church and Joey and I went and got me the new iPhone 6!  I am liking it so far and I'm excited to dig in more and find out the new cool things it can do.

Then we had a nice little lunch date at Panera and afterwards went to Helzberg to turn in our wedding rings to get them checked and redipped.  I feel so naked without my ring!  I keep having mini heart attacks when I realize there is nothing on my finger.  I'm going to need to put one of my costume ones on temporarily so I don't keep having spaz attacks the next week.

I hope you all had a relaxing weekend!  Anything interesting happen?  Let me know below!

High Five for Friday!

This week seems like it completely got away from me.  So much to do, so little time...so much sleep still needed!  Let's recap:

1. Yesterday was mine and Joey's 5th wedding anniversary!  He surprised me with a beautiful homemade dinner of stuffed shells!  He also got me a bouquet of beautiful roses and a bottle of wine.  He's the greatest :)

2. I am loooooving the temperatures outside.  I got to wear my J. Crew sweater and it's deliciously soft.  If it would stay in the upper sixties until next summer, I would not complain.  We can just skip all of the winter stuff, mmkay weatherjerks?

3. I finally got around to watching Dead Poet's Society for the first time this week.  It was good, but super long and drawn out.  Of course, I loved Robin Williams' character, but the other characters needed more development.  It was a good watch, though.

4. Does anyone else miss House of Cards?  I sure do.  I need me some Frank Underwood back in my life.  I wish it was February!  (Kind of.  Only for HOC.)

5. I have started decorating for fall!  I put little things like pumpkins and scarecrows on my fireplace mantel and added some of those fake flickering candles.  I need to bust out my Scentsy and get my Pumpkin Roll wax melting to make the house smell amazing.  Can't wait to add in some Halloween decorations soon, too!

Happy Friday, friends!  Link up with Lauren below!

5 Years

Oh today.  Today is one of my favorite days of the year.  I woke up next to my best friend and we were snuggled deep under the covers, comfortable and warm and happy.  Our first little furbaby, Daisy, was nestled in between us and quietly snored.  September 18th dawned a bright and beautiful day, just like it was 5 years ago on our wedding day.  The temperature was perfect with blue skies for miles.

I was 22, he was 24.  We were so excited to start our journey together as husband and wife.  It's amazing how quickly 5 years has clipped by!  We still feel like newlyweds, but we aren't really in 'newlywed' status to others anymore.  Knowing that we have friends and family getting married this year and it's five years after us, it doesn't seem possible that it has been that long!

To say that I have a great husband in Joey would be an understatement.  This year has, without a doubt, been one of the hardest we have faced together, but he lived up to his vows to care for me in every way he promised 5 years ago.  I have truly hit the jackpot with him.

I love you, my sweet husband.  Everyday I am so thankful that God led me to you.

Happy Anniversary, Love.

Weekly Happies.

So I know everyone does the Five for Friday thing, so in my neck of the woods I am going to start listing my Weekly Happies...all the things this week that brought beauty, love and happiness to my soul.  And I will probably go past 5 :)

1.) My husband, Joey.  He is seriously the greatest thing to ever happen to me.  He deserves to have the first place on this list.  I am the luckiest girl to have a man that is my best friend.  The gratitude and love I feel towards him is immeasurable.

2.) 66* weather!  Holy cow, guys, does that feel good to have.  It hasn't stuck around but those fleeting days where it does peek gives me hope that May will bring a sunshine and warm filled month!  (And I would like to see some green outside, yes? ENOUGH with the brown!)

3.)  My powder room.  I did a little sprucing of it the past few weeks to add some personality.  I found the CUTEST little stand at Home Goods which fit perfectly and then I added a lantern, a lotus flower tealight, a little rock that says 'Relax' and some orchids.  I don't know why, but that little corner in my house makes me so happy.  I will put pictures up one day!

4.) Our elliptical.  I have been using that thing every night before I shower and go to bed and it has made sleep SO much better for me.

5.) Spartan Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.  This stuff is the BEST.  No other brand tops Spartan on this one in my book.  My parents had a gallon and I had to go over and inhale some.

6.) My new flats.  This goes along with #2.  I bought the cutest little lace flats that are the most comfortable things to boot.  It just has to stop raining so I can wear them more.

7.) Walking the dogs.  Joey and I love to do this in our sub.  It's so peaceful and it's awesome when we see some deer!

Well, those are my Happies of the week...It's Easter weekend so we will be all over the place, but it should be a good time.  Let's have some warm weather to celebrate, please!
